CLEVELAND – The Twins announced Tuesday that , the organization’s No. 1 prospect and Pipeline’s No. 3 prospect in MLB, has lingering left ankle soreness and will remain out for at least a few more weeks.

Jenkins first suffered a sprained left ankle during Spring Training. He missed much of camp but returned in time to open the season on the active roster of Double-A Wichita. However, he experienced recurring discomfort and was placed on the injured list after two games.

The soreness has continued for Jenkins, who received a cortisone shot recently in hopes of dissipating it. A club spokesperson said Jenkins is not expected to play before the end of May.

It’s the second consecutive season that has been significantly impacted by injury for Jenkins. Last year, he was limited to 82 games due to a left hamstring injury that he suffered in the season opener.

Additionally, the Twins announced that right-hander Charlee Soto, their No. 8 prospect, will be placed on the injured list due to right triceps soreness.
