HOUSTON -- Twins third baseman Royce Lewis went on the injured list Sunday morning with a mild strain of his left hamstring.
Lewis, who was hurt while running out a ninth-inning single Friday night, had an MRI on Saturday, revealing the extent of his injury.
To replace Lewis on the 26-man roster, the Twins recalled outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A St. Paul.
Lewis, who strained the same hamstring in March and didn’t make his 2025 debut until May 6, suffered his latest injury while heading to first base on a single to left field.
After being activated in May, Lewis slashed just .130/.200/.203 in 20 games that month. But he has heated up, batting .367/.457/.533 over 10 games in June. He hit a solo home run in the sixth inning of Friday night’s loss.
This will be Keirsey Jr.'s second stint with the Twins this season. The 28-year-old was on the Minnesota’s 2025 Opening Day roster and went 7-for-64 with one home run, four RBIs, one walk, five stolen bases and six runs scored in 45 games from March 27-May 30.
He hit .231 with four doubles, four RBIs, two walks, one stolen base, five runs scored and a .619 OPS in 10 games for the Saints after being optioned there on May 31.
