1978: The Cobra

Nicknamed "The Cobra" for his quick, powerful and intimidating presence on the field, Parker donned a hockey mask at the plate after suffering a fractured jaw and cheekbone

July 17, 1979: Bullseye

Parker showed off his defense prowess in 1979's ASG, throwing out Jim Rice at 3rd AND Brian Downing at home. The Cobra finished his career a 3x Gold Glove winner

Oct. 16, 1979: Clutch in October

Parker’s go-ahead single in Game 6 of the World Series propelled the Pirates to victory and eventually a World Series title

Aug 9, 1981: All-Star

The slugger clobbered a HR in the All-Star Game to help lead the NL to victory. Parker finished his storied career a 7x All-Star

Parker finished his Pirates' career a WS Champion, 1978 MVP winner and 2x NL batting champion

1984: New threads

Parker signed with the Reds in the offseason, returning to his hometown of Cincinnati

1985: Recharged

Having his best season since 1978, Parker was crowned a Silver Slugger recipient, NL RBI leader and All-Star in just his 1st year back home

1987: Trade to A's

The Reds traded Parker to the A's, where he went on to win his 2nd World Series ring

1989: Mr. 300

Parker joined the exclusive 300 HR club with this blast against the Twins

1989: Champion, again

Parker belted his only WS home run against the crosstown rival Giants to help the A's win in Game 1

Oct. 2, 1991: No. 2,712

Parker notched his final hit, a double, in his last MLB game. He finished his 19-year career with a .290/.339/.471 (.810 OPS) line and 339 HRs and 1,493 RBIs

He became a member of both the Pirates and Reds' Hall of Fame after his storied career in both organizations

Parker was elected to the Hall of Fame via the Classic Baseball Era Committee. He sadly passed away at age 74 on June 28, 2025, a month before the induction ceremony
