CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Juan Ramirez was promoted to chief technology officer in December 2021. In this role, he oversees all technological functions for the Rays, positioning the organization as a technology leader among Major League Baseball teams and throughout the sports industry. Under his leadership, the IT team has supported the baseball operation by implementing a suite of proprietary analytic tools that contributed to securing five consecutive playoff berths. Additionally, he has focused on building state-of-the-art “Enterprise Sports Business” software, enabling employees to use industry-leading tools efficiently. These advancements include custom-built software, cloud solutions and comprehensive business intelligence platforms that have significantly improved the organization’s speed of business. Since joining the Rays in 2006, Ramirez has concentrated on maximizing network and application performance, leveraging strong network infrastructure, centralized storage, and virtualization technologies. He holds top technical certifications, including Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, Google, AWS and Nutanix, to maintain hands-on expertise and develop innovative strategies in the evolving IT landscape. In 2007, he was honored as the Ray’s co-employee of the Year. He is passionate about community service and is an active member of the Rays Employee Community Outreach Team. Ramirez earned his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and remains committed to professional development. He and his wife, Nelly, reside in Tampa with their children: Christian, Nelly and Kenya.
