Josh Bell Announced as Nationals Nike RBI Ambassador, Visits Youth Baseball Academy Athletes

July 30, 2025

Nationals Nike RBI Ambassador and designated hitter Josh Bell, along with infielder CJ Abrams and outfielder James Wood, recently visited with a group of Nationals Nike Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) athletes aged 14–18 out of the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. The trio took part in a question-and-answer session and surprised the players with team bats and Nationals Nike RBI T-shirts ahead of the RBI Regional Tournament in August.

As Nationals Philanthropies’ first-ever ambassador to the Nike RBI program, Bell helps to advance Nike RBI’s core mission to develop the next generation of baseball and softball players, encourage academic achievement, and teach the value of teamwork and various life skills on and off the field.

A longtime advocate for youth development, Bell has actively supported education, literacy and sports participation initiatives throughout his Major League career, including being involved with the Nike RBI programs in Pittsburgh and Miami. After being acquired by the Nationals in 2021, Bell was named the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy player ambassador, and later launched Josh Bell’s Book Club, a monthly self-improvement-focused book club for adults. Bell was honored as the Nationals’ Roberto Clemente Award nominee in 2022. Since returning to the Nationals in 2025, Bell has continued to support causes surrounding mentorship and education. In July, Bell wrote and published his own children’s book, entitled “What Color is the Sky,” aimed at promoting youth literacy and self-expression.
