Cody Ryan Thomas…wife, Shaley, is the older sister of Kansas City shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and the daughter of former Rangers pitcher and 16-year MLB veteran Bobby Witt…attended Colleyville Heritage High School (Texas) in the DFW Metroplex…played football, throwing for a combined 83 touchdowns in his junior and senior seasons and was rated as a four-star recruit…was drafted by the Yankees in the 30th round of the 2013 MLB Draft but did not sign and attended the University of Oklahoma…played both baseball and football for the Sooners, starting three games at quarterback during the 2014 season…batted .299 (35-for-117) with six home runs and a .909 OPS in 2016 and was an honorable mention on the All-Big 12 Conference team.

Batted .289 with 18 home runs and 52 RBI in just 59 games at Triple-A Las Vegas in his first season in the A’s organization…added 20 doubles and four triples for a .665 slugging percentage...His slugging percentage was a career high as was his 1.028 OPS…the home runs were the fewest of his career and his games played matched his fewest from 2016...Ranked third in the A’s farm system in extra base hits (42), fifth in home runs and tied for sixth in triples...Played his final game on July 25…at the time, he was leading the Triple-A West in extra base hits, ranked second in slugging and OPS, tied for second in triples, third in RBI and total bases (145), tied for third in home runs and fifth in doubles...Was eventually placed on the injured list Aug. 20 with a strained right achilles...Hit .308 (20-for-65) with a 1.074 OPS against left-handed pitchers, .281 (43-for-153) with a 1.009 OPS against right-handers...Batted .328 with runners in scoring position...Had a .479 batting average and 1.728 OPS when ahead in the count...Hit .440 in the fifth inning...Started 23 games in left field, 22 in center field, seven in right field and four at designated hitter…had three assists in 52 games overall in the outfield and also committed two errors (.979 fielding percentage)…Connected for 10 of his 18 home runs as a left fielder...Hit in every spot in the order except second…saw his most action with 11 games in both the seventh and eighth spot.

Spent the entire season in Double-A Tulsa, slashing .236/.308/.443 across a team leading 130 games, the second most games played in the entire Texas League...Throughout the month of May, slashed .337/.402/.519 across 28 games, tallying 20 RBI on five doubles, a triple and four home runs…tallied a 10-game hitting streak from May 10-18, going 19-for-40 (.475) while batting in 10 runs on three homers, three doubles and a triple…tallied seven multi-hit games during the same streak Went 4-for-4 on April 17, homering three different times to tally five RBI in a 10-7 victory over Springfield...in day games, Thomas went 25-for-82 (.305) while adding up six extra-base hits, seven homers and 21 RBI...paced the entire Texas league with his 23 home runs, a career-high…ranked top three on Tulsa in home runs, batting average (3rd), RBI (1st, 76), OBP (3rd), SLG (2nd), walks (3rd, 46) and total bases (1st, 210).

Played the entirety of the year in Advanced-A Rancho, recording a slash line of .285/.355/.497 while crushing 19 long balls, 35 doubles and seven triples to total 87 RBI across 127 games, the fourth most in the league...Was named Player of the Week for the week of July 29 and September 3…from July 22-29, went 10-for-32 (.313), crushing four long balls to total 15 RBI…from August 26-September 3, went 15-for-36 (.417) with six doubles, two homers and 12 RBI...came up clutch when the bases were loaded, going 4-for-12, with three walks, 2 grand slams and 16 RBI...tallied an 11-game hitting streak from June 21-July 1, going 16-for-44 (.364) while scoring 11 runs and tallying three doubles, a triple, six home runs and 13 RBI.

Spent his entire season with Single-A Great Lakes, finishing with a slash line of .222/.293/.409 across 121 games Boasted a solid June, slashing .306/.355/.541 across 22 games and 85 at bats, crushing four long balls while adding 18 RBI and five walks to his stat sheet....paced the team and ranked fifth in the league with his 20 homers… ranked top three on the team in runs (2nd, 59), batting average (2nd), OBP (2nd), total bases (1st, 188) and RBI (1st, 65)...tallied a 13-game hitting streak from May 15-May 30, going 18-for-58 (.310), hitting four homers to tally eight RBI.
