Say hello to Clark the Cub, MLB's newest official mascot

The Chicago Cubs' days as a mascotless franchise are over. On Monday, the team announced their first mascot in a very long time: a "young, friendly Cub" named Clark.
His name is appropriate, as Wrigley Field's entrance sits at the intersection of Addison and Clark streets. Clark already has his own website, and Twitter account, which he's working to get the hang of:
Still figryuing out how 2 tyype with these big pawz. Will gett lessons from @Cubs. Come back soon!!

While the press release made a note to say Clark is the first Cubs mascot is "modern history," Chicago has had mascots before. In 1908, the World Series-winning Cubs squad had a somewhat less cute costumed mascot:
While in 1916, the team experimented with a live bear:
Clark made his first in-person appearance on Monday night, at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center:
Had a blast meeting new friends at Advocate tonight! Thanks to my fellow rookies for joining me! pic.twitter.com/2EOJPaNpjT

And he'll appear at Wrigley Field through 2014. Now, only three MLB teams are still without a mascot: The Angels, Dodgers and Yankees.
