Brewers Unveil William Contreras Community Mural at Black Cat Alley

June 26th, 2025

MILWAUKEE – On Friday, June 27, the Milwaukee Brewers will unveil their latest community mural. The mural, illustrated by Brent Schoonover and painted by local artist and Milwaukee native, Hannah Tews, will be featured in Black Cat Alley, located at 2021 E. Ivanhoe Place in Milwaukee. The William Contreras anime-inspired piece is the third mural installed as part of the Milwaukee Brewers continued #BeyondTheDiamond community engagement efforts.

The Brewers have deepened their commitment to community engagement through a vibrant mural initiative that brings art and baseball together across the city and state. As part of their #BeyondTheDiamond efforts, the Brewers unveiled the “El Paletero” mural, designed by Michael Cerda and installed at the Heavy Hitters Athletic Facility in Milwaukee. In addition, the “Field of Play” mural, designed by Whitney Nettles, was installed at the Little Village Play Café. The murals celebrate themes of teamwork, belonging and joy—values that mirror the spirit of baseball. By partnering with local artists, the Brewers aim to transform public spaces into colorful tributes to community pride and creativity.

Illustrator Brent Schoonover is a Milwaukee native and passionate Brewers fan, currently living in Minnesota. Hannah Tews, a Milwaukee native, is the installation artist and owner of Terrible Tews, where she brings spontaneity to every project, capturing the magic, energy, and delightful messiness of childhood.
