Kyle Schwarber thanks local heroes for their service
Before Tuesday’s game against the Washington Nationals, Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber made a special stop to Engine 60 / Ladder 19 / Medic 37 in the heart of Philadelphia as part of his mission to express gratitude to first responders and military personnel through Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes. Kyle met with the local heroes and their families and provided lunch for all in attendance.
Later that day, during batting practice at Citizens Bank Park, Schwarber met with members from the Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the families of fallen and critically injured first responders and building healthy connections in the communities they serve.
Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes was founded by Kyle and his wife, Paige, to support wellness, education and crisis needs for police, fire and military personnel and their families.
Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $1.5 million in grants to nonprofits who support Schwarber’s cause, and has touched the lives of countless military personnel, first responders and their families.
