Jac Caglianone is just showing off at this point.
Caglianone, the Royals' first-round pick in the 2024 Draft, put a high fastball from Cardinals prospect Tekoah Roby (STL No. 11) on top of a building beyond the right-center-field wall at Hammons Field. Caglianone led an offensive charge with his two-run roundtripper for the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals, who avoided a late rally and downed the Springfield Cardinals 5-4 on Saturday.

After a 1-for-3 night, MLB's No. 19 prospect exited the contest with a .307/.392/.515 slash line in 26 games at Double-A this season. His fifth home run marked his 11th extra-base hit on the year, as the 6-foot-5 lefty has blown his numbers from his brief pro debut last year out of the water, boasting a 70-grade power tool, tied for the best among ranked prospects.

Caglianone also made his fourth professional start in right field Saturday. The former two-way sensation at Florida will focus primarily on being a position player in 2025, and after only playing first base in college and into April, he's added a wrinkle of versatility to his defensive game.
"I will say that now that Jac Caglianone has started to play the outfield, we should keep an eye on that situation," MLB Pipeline's Jonathan Mayo wrote in his April 25 inbox. "Because his power bat could really help the Royals compete in the AL Central soon."
In an eventful start to his first full professional season, Caglianone has already made other headlines with some long homers, two hits off future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw during the southpaw's rehab assignment and a 120.9 mph single.
