Russ Stanley enters his 36th season with the San Francisco Giants, continuing his tenure as Senior Vice President, Head of Ticketing. Since joining the organization in 1989, Stanley has been a transformative leader in the sports ticketing industry, pioneering innovations that have set new standards for fan engagement and revenue generation. Stanley and his All-Star ticketing team were the first to develop and implement a team sponsored, online secondary market website called the Double Play Ticket Window -- a precursor to platforms like StubHub. They also introduced a Dynamic Pricing model which is commonplace today in professional sports and other demand-based businesses. Russ’ team also employed the first client retention team in 2000, and that group remains mostly intact providing stellar customer service for our best customers. These initiatives contributed to a remarkable 530-game consecutive sell-out streak beginning October 2010 and running into July of the 2017 season.
Stanley and his team of sales, operations, client relations, and luxury suites staff have implemented many progressive ideas that are designed to continually improve the fan experience at Oracle Park and Scottsdale Stadium. His team continues to stay focused on adapting to the latest mobile ticketing technology. This year they have implemented Go Ahead Entry, a free-flow facial authentication technology as well as on-line Suite Sales.
Under Stanley’s leadership, his team continues to set the bar for the sports ticketing industry. Recently he was the recipient of the INTIX Lifetime Achievement Award as well as the John P. Buschhorn Ticketing Titan Award. In 2024 he was inducted into the Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame.
In addition to his Giants duties, Stanley serves on the board of the American Heart Association, San Francisco State University, and San Mateo Police Activities League. The San Francisco State graduate spent eight years at Marine World Africa USA before embarking on his Giants career in 1989.
