Jack Bair has played a major role in many of the most important business achievements of the San Francisco Giants franchise since joining the team in 1993. Bair helped transform the franchise by running point on the successful effort to replace Candlestick Park with a new ballpark in downtown San Francisco. He managed the effort to select the waterfront site for the new ballpark and coordinated the design process that produced one of the most celebrated ballparks in Major League Baseball history. He was the chief strategist and spokesperson for the successful 1996 ballpark campaign. He also negotiated the real estate transaction and coordinated the effort to gain the local, regional, state and federal governmental approvals necessary for the ballpark to meet its timetable for Opening Day in 2000. Bair also made significant improvements to Scottsdale Stadium and its player development facilities in Arizona. He also led the effort to develop the team’s international headquarters and player development facility in the Dominican Republic.
Bair’s primary focus now is managing the effort to develop Mission Rock, the 28-acre mixed-use project just south of the ballpark and related business opportunities. The project’s award-winning first phase consists of a major waterfront park, ground floor retail, two residential towers, two commercial office buildings (including the world headquarters for VISA) and associated infrastructure. Mission Rock was recognized as the Real Estate Deal of the Year by the San Francisco Business Times in 2024. It has also won multiple national and local awards for excellence in design of its buildings and open space.
For most of his career with the Giants, Bair served as the team’s Chief Legal Officer, responsible for the organization’s legal matters. Bair is widely recognized as one of the leading lawyers in professional sports and was honored by the San Francisco Business Times & Silicon Valley Business Times with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Bair now serves as the club’s Chief Development Officer and President of its real estate division.
