Shohei Ohtani will make his second pitching start of the season on Sunday.
The Dodgers announced that Ohtani will start their series finale against the Nationals at Dodger Stadium at 4:10 p.m. ET/1:10 p.m. PT, a game that will air on MLB.TV.
The two-way superstar made his Dodgers pitching debut on Monday against the Padres. Ohtani pitched one inning that night, throwing 28 pitches (16 strikes) while allowing one run without recording a strikeout. He topped 100 mph and impressed with his stuff in his return to the mound for the first time in nearly two years.
Ohtani also went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as a hitter in the game.
It had been 663 days since Ohtani's last MLB pitching start, which he made on Aug. 23, 2023, as a member of the Angels. Right elbow surgery kept him out as a pitcher for the entire 2024 season -- when he still won the National League MVP Award and led the Dodgers to a World Series title.
