RED SOX REINSTATE RIGHT-HANDED PITCHER JORDAN HICKS FROM 15-DAY INJURED LIST

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated right-handed pitcher Jordan Hicks from the 15-Day Injured List. Hicks will wear number 46. To make room, Boston optioned right-handed pitcher Zack Kelly to Triple-A Worcester.

Hicks, 28, was acquired from the San Francisco Giants on June 15 with three other players in exchange for Rafael Devers. The right-hander made two rehab outings with Triple-A Worcester, pitching 1.2 innings, and posted a 6.47 ERA (35 ER/48.2 IP) with 43 strikeouts in 13 games (nine starts) with the Giants this season. Originally selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native has posted a 4.23 ERA (189 ER/401.2 IP) with 54 holds, 33 saves, a .234 opponent batting average, and 394 strikeouts in 254 career Major League games (37 starts) with the Cardinals (2018-23), Toronto Blue Jays (2023), and Giants (2024-25).

Kelly, 30, has pitched in 17 games for Boston this season, posting a 5.56 ERA (14 ER/22.2 IP) with 25 strikeouts. The right-hander has also made 11 outings (one start) for Triple-A Worcester. Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Oakland Athletics in 2017, the Virginia native owns a 4.31 ERA (49 ER/102.1 IP) with 103 strikeouts in 87 career games (three starts), all with Boston (2022-25).
