RED SOX CLAIM CATCHER ALI SÁNCHEZ OFF WAIVERS FROM TORONTO BLUE JAYS

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today claimed catcher Ali Sánchez off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. Boston’s 40-man roster is now at 40.

Sánchez, 28, has played in eight games this season for the Blue Jays, batting .238 (5-for-21) with two doubles while making five starts as the catcher. The right-handed hitter has also played in 54 games with Triple-A Buffalo, batting .279 (50-for-179) with a .766 OPS, seven doubles, six home runs, and 28 RBI. Originally signed by the New York Mets as an international free agent on July 2, 2013, the Venezuela native has played in 46 career Major League games with the Mets (2020), St. Louis Cardinals (2021), Miami Marlins (2024), and Blue Jays (2025).
