RED SOX ACQUIRE FIRST BASEMAN/OUTFIELDER RYAN NODA FROM LOS ANGELES ANGELS

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today acquired first baseman/outfielder Ryan Noda from the Los Angeles Angels, in exchange for cash considerations, and optioned him to Triple-A Worcester. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club transferred outfielder Masataka Yoshida to the 60-Day Injured List.

Noda, 29, has played in 164 career Major League games with the Athletics (2023-24), making 130 starts at first base and one in right field. The left-handed hitter has batted .212 (106-for-501) with a .344 on-base percentage, 26 doubles, one triple, 17 home runs, and 58 RBI. Selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 15th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, the Illinois native has played in 38 games for Triple-A Salt Lake this season, batting .148 (17-for-115) with a .364 on-base percentage while making 13 starts in right field, eight at first base, four in left field, and four in center field.

Yoshida, 31, was placed on the 10-Day Injured List on March 27 (retroactive to March 24) due to right shoulder labral repair. Signed by Boston as a free agent on December 15, 2022, the Japan native has batted .285 (261-for-915) with 54 doubles, three triples, 25 home runs, and 128 RBI in 248 career games, all with the Red Sox (2023-24).
