SEASON OPENER NOTES

The Rangers are 25-28 overall in season openers after defeating Chicago-NL in Arlington, 4-3 in 10 innings, in 2024. Texas has won back-to-back season openers (also W, 11-7 vs. PHI in 2023) for the first time since winning 4 straight lid-lifters from 2009-12. The club is 27-26 in the home opener at three different parks, dropping seven of the last 11 beginning in 2014. The team is 3-2 in the season’s first game at Globe Life Field, defeating Colorado in 2020, then losing to Toronto and the Rockies in 2021-22 before consecutive victories against the Phillies and Cubs in 2023 and 2024, respectively. This will mark the fourth time that the Rangers have opened the year against the Red Sox, first since 2011 when Texas topped Boston, 9-5, at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The Rangers and Red Sox also met to open the season in 2006 (L, 3-7) and 1996 (W, 5-3), both in Arlington.
