Red Sox reinstate catcher Connor Wong from the 10-day injured list

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated catcher Connor Wong from the 10-Day Injured List. To make room, the club optioned catcher Blake Sabol to Triple-A Worcester.

Wong, 28, played three rehab games with Triple-A Worcester, starting each at catcher and going 4-for-11 with one double, one home run, and three RBI. The right-handed hitter has played in nine games for Boston this season, making seven starts as the catcher and going 2-for-23. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native has played 294 career games with the Red Sox (2021-25), batting .252 (227-for-902) with 53 doubles, 23 home runs, and 96 RBI.

Sabol, 27, has played eight games for Boston, starting four at catcher and going 2-for-16 with a double and an RBI. The left-handed hitter has also played six games for Worcester this season, batting .250 (5-for-20) with two doubles and four RBI. Originally selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the seventh round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has played in 129 career games with the San Francisco Giants (2023-24) and Red Sox (2025), batting .237 (85-for-358) with 13 home runs and 46 RBI.
