Rangers Recall Infielder Jake Burger From Triple-A Round Rock, Option Infielder Blaine Crim To Triple-A Round Rock

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Monday night’s series opener against the Colorado Rockies at Globe Life Field:

Burger, 29, hit .391/.462/.696/1.158 (9-23) with 2 home runs, 1 double, 6 RBI, 3 walks, 2 strikeouts, and 5 runs scored in 6 games with Round Rock (AAA) since he was optioned by Texas on May 2, making defensive starts at first base (4) and designated hitter (2). The right-handed-hitting infielder recorded multiple hits in 4 of his last 5 games in Triple-A, including homering in each of his last 2 games, Saturday and Sunday at El Paso. Burger will be embarking on his second stint with Texas this season, having batted .190 with 3 home runs and 12 RBI over 30 games (Opening Day-May 1), including 29 starts (all at first base), for the Rangers in 2025.

A five-year Major League veteran, Burger was acquired by Texas from Miami on December 11, 2024, in exchange for infielders Echedry Vargas and Max Acosta, and left-handed pitcher Brayan Mendoza. The St. Louis, Mo. native has posted a .246 batting average (328-1333) with 75 home runs and 197 RBI in 374 career Major League games with Chicago-AL (2021-23), Miami (2023-24), and Texas (2025). Primarily utilized as a corner infielder throughout his MLB career, Burger has made defensive starts at third base (201), first base (81), designated hitter (64), and second base (4).

Crim, 27, appeared in 5 games with Texas since his contract was selected from Round Rock on May 2, going 0-for-11 with one walk, one hit by pitch, one run scored and 6 strikeouts. He made his Major League debut in a start at first base on May 2 vs. Seattle, logging 3 starts at first base and appearing as a reserve in 2 others games during his stint with the Rangers.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
