Rangers Place Shortstop Corey Seager On 10-Day Injured List, Activate Catcher Kyle Higashioka From 10-Day Injured List

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies at Globe Life Field:

Seager, 31, has not played in 4 of the club’s last 5 games since May 8, making 5 starts (4-SS, 1-DH) since being activated from the 10-day Injured List (right hamstring strain, April 23-May 2) on May 3. The shortstop has batted .300/.346/.520/.866 (30-100) with 6 home runs, 4 doubles, 12 RBI, and 15 runs scored in 26 games for Texas this year. In his 4 seasons with the Rangers (beg. 2022), Seager has hit .281 with 102 home runs and 265 RBI in 419 games.

Higashioka, who turned 35 last month, missed Texas’ last 12 games with a mild left intercostal strain suffered on April 29 vs. the Athletics at Globe Life Field. In 2 games on rehab assignment last weekend with Triple-A Round Rock at El Paso, the catcher went 2-for-8 with 2 doubles and one run scored, starting as the Express’ designated hitter on Saturday and catching the first 5.0 innings for Round Rock on Sunday. The 9-year MLB veteran has slashed .254/.279/.390/.669 (15-59) with one home run, 5 doubles, 8 RBI, and 3 runs scored in 17 games for Texas in 2025, his first season with the club since signing a two-year free agent contract on 12/2/24.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
