Rangers Place RHP Chris Martin On 15-Day Injured List, Recall RHP Cole Winn From Triple-A Round Rock
New York, N.Y. — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Tuesday’s series opener against New York-AL at Yankee Stadium:
- Right-handed pitcher Chris Martin placed on 15-day Injured List (right shoulder fatigue), retroactive to May 19.
- Right-handed pitcher Cole Winn recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
Martin, 38, exited Sunday’s game against Houston in the 8th inning after throwing one pitch. The right-hander has posted an 0-4 record, one save, a 1.83 ERA (4 ER/19.2 IP), and a 0.92 WHIP in 22 relief appearances (2nd-most on TEX) for the Rangers this season, ranking 3rd among qualified A.L. relievers with a 7.67 strikeout to walk ratio (23 SO/3 BB). The Arlington native is a veteran of 10 Major League seasons with Colorado (2014), New York-AL (2015), Texas (2018-19, 2025), Atlanta (2019-21), Chicago-NL (2022), Los Angeles-NL (2022), and Boston (2023-24).
Winn, 25, is in his 2nd stint with Texas this year (also May 15-17) and did not pitch for Round Rock (AAA) since being optioned prior to Sunday’s game vs. the Astros. His most recent appearance was his 2025 Rangers debut on Friday vs. Houston, covering the final 2.1 innings of the club’s 6-3 loss (3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO, 40 pitches/26 strikes). Winn, who has totaled 14 MLB appearances across 2 seasons with Texas (2024-25), has not allowed an earned run in 12 relief outings with Round Rock this year (23.1 IP) and was named Rangers Minor League Reliever of the Month for April.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
