Pirates Announce Second Round Of Fields For Kids Grant Recipients For 2025
Pirates Charities today announced the recipients of the second round of the “Fields for Kids” matching grant program for 2025. This is the second of three rounds of grants that will be issued during the 2025 season.
With the second round of matching grants supporting nine area youth baseball and softball organizations, a total of more than 5,300 youth throughout Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia have been impacted by the first two rounds of grants in 2025. The final round of grants will be awarded in August. Area organizations may submit their request online at pirates.com/fieldforkids. The deadline for submissions to be considered for a grant in 2025 is July 31.
In all, 11 counties are directly impacted in 2025, with grants distributed throughout seven counties in the second round, as groups in Allegheny, Beaver, Clarion, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, and Westmoreland counties received grants.

The Pirates Charities Fields for Kids program aims to provide key resources to youth baseball and softball organizations, including financial support for the construction and upkeep of area fields. These fields become places where young athletes and their coaches connect over the shared love of our game, create lifelong memories, and learn some of life’s most important lessons, such as teamwork and sportsmanship.
Since its inception in 2009, the Fields for Kids program has impacted tens of thousands of children and distributed over 500 individual grants in the greater Pittsburg

Organizations receiving support in the Field for Kids second round of 2025 matching grants include:
- Allegheny County: Pine-Richland Baseball and Softball Association serves more than 700 area athletes and will use their grant for field maintenance that includes infield and outfield surface maintenance, purchasing field tarps and more.
- Beaver County: The Blackhawk Area Youth Baseball Association is undertaking an expansive lighting project, and the support will help offset costs for lights at Veterans Park Field.
- Clarion County: The Clarion-Limestone School District is constructing a batting cage in partnership with the student manufacturing program.
- Indiana County: The Clymer Little League is in the midst of a project that includes replacing three sets of bleachers. The field suffered a great deal of flood damage, and the group has made extensive repairs to restore the playing surface.
- Lawrence County: Wilmington Area Summer Baseball is investing in a water mitigation project for a field that becomes unusable after heavy rain. The project will help with drainage for the field that is home to more than 100 players.
- Mercer County: Two Grove City area groups, the Grove City Little League and the Grove City Girls Fast Pitch League, will each receive support through the Fields for Kids program. The Grove City Little League has upwards of 150 participants and will receive aid for fencing repair that is needed after recent storms. The Girls Fastpitch League will use its grant to assist with two field restorations.
- Westmoreland County: Two organizations in Westmoreland County will receive assistance to help with their projects, as the Derry Area School District and Purchase Line School District were each awarded matching grants. The former will receive help with their batting cage construction project, and the grant will assist the latter with infield resurfacing and dugout repairs.
