Jo Adell of the Angels named American League Player of the Week Presented by Chevrolet; Hunter Goodman of the Rockies named National League Player of the Week Presented by Chevrolet

Right fielder Jo Adell of the Los Angeles Angels has been named the American League Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet, and All-Star catcher Hunter Goodman of the Colorado Rockies has been named the National League Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.

Adell earned his first career award and is the third Angel to win the award this season, joining teammates Taylor Ward (May 27th) and Zach Neto (August 18th). It is the first time the Angels have earned at least three recognitions in the same season since 2023 (Shohei Ohtani 3x and Luis Rengifo) and the first time three separate Halos have earned the honor in the same season since 2021 (Shohei Ohtani 2x, Max Stassi and David Fletcher). Goodman also won his first career award and is the second member of Colorado to be recognized this year, joining teammate Warming Bernabel on August 4th. It is the first time the Rockies have garnered multiple honors in the same season since C.J. Cron and Nolan Jones were both honored in 2023.

Electric Play of the Week presented by Chevrolet

Incredible Home Run Robbery by Ceddanne Rafaela of the Boston Red Sox

September 6th at Chase Field – Watch It Here

Boston Red Sox center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela earned his second career Play of the Week Award after previously winning earlier this season on May 12th. It is the fourth honor for Boston since the inception of the award in 2019, joining awards for Jackie Bradley Jr. on May 14, 2019 and J.D. Martinez on July 6, 2021. With one out and the Arizona Diamondbacks leading the Red Sox, 4-1, in the fifth inning, Corbin Carroll hit a ball to the right-center alley that would have been a home run if not for Rafaela’s acrobatic leap to bring the ball back. Additional Play of the Week candidates included Will Robertson’s home run robbery; Max Fried’s sliding catch and quick throw to first for a double play; Dansby Swanson and Justin Turner’s all-out effort for the out; Blaze Alexander’s home run robbery; Bobby Witt Jr.’s diving stop and strong throw to first; and Elly De La Cruz’s unassisted double play.
