Nearly $1 Million Donated To Six Arizona Non-Profits Through Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Awards
Six Arizona-based nonprofits will soon make a powerful impact in their communities reaching across the state thanks to a combined $946,000 in funding grants through the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation’s 2025 Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Awards.
Established in 2002, this signature grant program has awarded more than $11.2 million to organizations across Arizona to support transformative, large-scale projects that drive long-term change by helping them expand services, improve operations, and better serve those in need. These grants are a cornerstone of the D-backs’ broader community giving efforts, which have now surpassed $93 million in total impact. The Arizona Diamondbacks congratulate the recipients below and thank them for their dedication to serving our community:
Benevilla Benefitness Adaptive Gym: The Benevilla Benefitness Adaptive Gym in Surprise supports older adults and individuals with disabilities through specialized fitness programs. To meet growing demand, Benevilla will expand the gym by converting the existing space and increasing class sizes and personal training capacity. The project aims to serve 270 members annually and grow hourly capacity from 24 to 36.
Catholic Charities Arizona’s Legacy Foundation Christine Stamper Center for Help & Hope: The Legacy Foundation Christine Stamper Center for Help & Hope in Bullhead City addresses homelessness and hunger by serving three meals daily. With demand tripling, the Center will serve more individuals with dignity and care, reduce costs, improve meal quality and boost storage capacity with the purchase and installation of a commercial freezer and walk-in refrigerator.
Chrysalis: Chrysalis works to prevent and respond to domestic violence by ensuring survivor safety and promoting healing. To enhance overall survivor well-being and improve security with a safer, more-responsive service environment, the organization will upgrade several areas including an emergency communication app, modern security systems, CPTED landscaping and fire sprinklers.
New Life Center: New Life Center has been a leader in providing emergency shelter and services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Arizona, serving over 260 adults and children annually. NLC will renovate its 20-year-old playground, offering a safe, inclusive space for healing and recovery. The new playground will support children’s emotional well-being, social development, and physical health.
Sun Life Health: Sun Life Health, a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center serving over 47,000 patients annually, is building a Next Generation Medical Center in Casa Grande to expand access to care, including pediatrics. The new center will feature technology, furniture, and child-friendly features—like colorful decor, reading nooks, and a Cavity-Free Club wall—to make visits welcoming, fun, and less intimidating for young patients.
Yuma Community Food Bank: Yuma Community Food Bank, serving Yuma and La Paz Counties since 1978, provided food to over 300,000 individuals in 2023. To meet rising demand and expand rural access, the organization will fund a refrigerated Peterbilt truck to enhance delivery efficiency, ensure food safety during extreme heat, and support mobile pop-up distributions in remote communities.
