His baseball family ties are well known. He was never far from a ballpark in his formative years -- the baseball diamond was his second home. He became a phenom, a prodigy.

And he inherited from his legendary father mammoth power at the plate.

He is Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and he is the latest superstar from the diamond to be featured as a superhero in “Heroes of the Game,” a collaboration between MLB and the top creators in the anime world that uses video and social imagery to imagine stars such as Guerrero, Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Paul Skenes and other larger-than-life heroes.

The "Heroes of the Game" campaign launched just before Opening Day across MLB's various media platforms, with plans to grow the roster throughout the season.

The Phillies’ Bryce Harper, the Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr., the Mariners’ Julio Rodríguez and the Mets’ Juan Soto are some of the other recent additions to the anime-inspired superhero squad.

Guerrero, who turned 26 in March, already has 165 home runs to his name, one which carries with it a legacy of super strength -- his father, Hall of Fame slugger Vladimir Guerrero Sr., smashed 449 homers during his illustrious 16-year MLB career.

The strength passed down from father to son has become a superpower, and the man who wields it with his bat looks to build upon a tremendous 2024 campaign in which he posted a .940 OPS, his best since he finished runner-up in the American League MVP voting in 2021.

As Guerrero’s Blue Jays welcome the Padres to Rogers Centre this week, they’ll battle San Diego’s galaxy of stars, which includes Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Jackson Merrill in what should be an exciting Interleague series.
