DENVER -- After homering in seven consecutive games to begin their current road trip, the Tigers didn’t go deep in either of their first two games against the Rockies at Coors Field.

But that didn’t stop them from continuing to put crooked numbers on the scoreboard.

With a 10-2 victory over Colorado in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, the beat goes on for Detroit’s lineup, which, after an 11-1 victory in Game 2, has scored 70 runs over its past eight games -- seven of which were victories.

On the mound, right-hander Casey Mize turned in six strong innings in his first career start at Coors, giving up one run on three hits while walking none and striking out eight.

The offensive eruption began early for the Tigers, who scored twice in the first, five times in the second and twice again in the third to jump out to a 9-0 lead.

Spencer Torkelson singled, doubled and drove in three runs. Andy Ibáñez also added a single and a double with two RBIs. Javier Báez extended his hit streak to nine games with a single and double of his own, and Justyn-Henry Malloy, who hadn’t started a game since May 1, picked up a pair of singles.

The Tigers are 25-10 since March 31, the best record in the Majors in that span.
