An escape fit for MLB's top prospect (Roman Anthony's version)
Sometimes MLB’s top prospect needs to make an escape.
Roman Anthony was tucked away in a rolling cart Sunday for a quick getaway outside the away clubhouse at PNC Field. Fully covered by bags and other belongings, the No. 1 prospect in the game rode along the walkway to the Triple-A Worcester team bus after defeating Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 7-4, in the series finale.
Anthony made an almost Taylor Swift-like dash to end his weekend against the rival Yankees affiliate, prompting the WooSox social media team to make a reference to the pop star with "Roman's Version" in parentheses on its social media post, which also featured the familiar driving beat of the "Mission: Impossible" theme.
Donning a discrete hoodie and sweatpants, Anthony jumped out of the cart in front of the bus and darted up the steps with his head down to complete a successful escape.
The postgame theatrics added some fun after a quiet day at the plate for Anthony. The 21-year-old went 1-for-5 with a run scored, bringing his series line to 4-for-27. The outfielder capped off a hot May at the plate Saturday, finishing the month with a slash line of .317/.444/.465 and three homers, four doubles and 24 walks while striking out 26 times.
