Young sluggers Kurtz, Stowers named Players of the Month for July
The fourth month of the 2025 season saw stars new and old take center stage, with a pair of young sluggers surging to the forefront of the national conversation and two veteran relievers each registering 0.00 ERAs in July.
AL Player of the Month: Nick Kurtz, ATH
Kurtz had quite the July. The rookie hit .395 with 11 homers and a 1.433 OPS, punctuated by arguably the greatest single-game performance of all time. On July 25 against the Astros, Kurtz went 6-for-6 with eight RBIs and became the 20th player in MLB history to club four homers in a game. He also tied the all-time single-game record with 19 total bases. How good was he in July? He slugged -- SLUGGED -- .953 for the month, which easily led all qualified players.

NL Player of the Month: Kyle Stowers, MIA
Stowers' July was almost as impressive as Kurtz's. He hit .364 with 10 homers and a 1.269 OPS and helped the Marlins go 15-10. He hit safely in 18 of the 24 games he played and had six multihit games, including a 5-for-5 showing against the Orioles on July 13. Like Kurtz, Stowers had an otherworldly slugging percentage for the month: .818 -- second only to Kurtz among qualified players.

AL Pitcher of the Month: Nathan Eovaldi, TEX
Eovaldi was about as stingy as it gets in July, going 5-0 and pitching to a 0.59 ERA for the month. Said another way, he surrendered just two earned runs all month. Eovaldi allowed just 21 hits and struck out 30 batters in 30 2/3 innings, and he capped off the month with his 100th career victory in Anaheim on Wednesday.

NL Pitcher of the Month: Paul Skenes, PIT
Skenes, like Eovaldi, allowed just two earned runs for the month, but his came in the same game (July 11 vs. the Twins). Otherwise, it was all zeros for the flamethrowing Pittsburgh righty, who pitched to a 0.67 ERA and fanned 36 batters and walked just three in 27 innings. His best performance of the month was his last one, when he went six innings vs. the D-backs, scattered three hits and struck out nine.

AL Rookie of the Month: Nick Kurtz, ATH
Kurtz more than doubled the next-highest home run total for any rookie in July (five, from Colson Montgomery), and he led rookies across both leagues in almost every meaningful offensive statistic, including hits (34), doubles (13), average (.395), on-base percentage (.480) and slugging percentage (.953).
NL Rookie of the Month: Isaac Collins, MIL
Collins is older than the average rookie (28), but he is the latest key cog for a Brewers team firing on all cylinders, batting .321 with a .411 on-base percentage, 25 hits and 11 walks in July, all tops among NL rookies.

AL Reliever of the Month: Kenley Jansen, LAA
It doesn't get better than zero runs allowed. Jansen earned his third career Reliever of the Month honor after pitching to a perfect 0.00 ERA in 11 1/3 innings, going 5-for-5 in save opportunities. A big help? Zero walks against 13 strikeouts.

NL Reliever of the Month: Edwin Díaz, NYM
Díaz extended his own record with his 10th career honor, posting a 0.00 ERA while striking out 18 batters in 11 innings. He went 7-for-8 in save opportunities, allowing an inherited runner to score in his only blown save -- a game the Mets still won.
