The 2025 Rookie-level All-Stars and award winners
Can you feel that crisp air making its way in? That can only mean one thing: The Minor League season is entering its final turn. While the four full-season levels are winding down their regular seasons before playoffs commence, only one Rookie-level league remains in action and that is the Dominican Summer League, which begins its brand new best-of-3 DSL Cup Championship today.
So before we crown a champion in the Caribbean, let's review all of the players who began their pro careers with a bang. Here are the All-Stars and award winners across Rookie ball in 2025:
Kicking things off in the Arizona Complex League, Rockies outfielder Roldy Brito earns MVP honors, while San Francisco has a pair of prospects taking home hardware as Keyner Martinez is the Pitcher of the Year and Jhonny Level claims the Top MLB Prospect.
Moving coasts to the Florida Complex League, Jordan Sanchez (Orioles) was named MVP, righty Javier Perez (Astros) spun his way to Pitcher of the Year and Edward Florentino (Pirates) was the circuit's Top MLB Prospect.
Finally, you'll be able to catch the Dominican Summer League Pitcher of the Year, Athletics southpaw Franco Zabaleta, in the aforementioned DSL Cup Final. Meanwhile, Colorado outfielder Cristian Arguellas was named the campaign's MVP with Elian Peña (Mets) claiming Top MLB Prospect honors.
Take a closer look at the major award winners as well as the full All-Star teams for each Rookie-level league:
Arizona Complex League
Most Valuable Player: Roldy Brito, ACL Rockies (COL)
Signed out of the Dominican Republic, Brito paced the ACL in average (.368), finished second in hits (67), OBP (.445), slugging (.555), OPS (1.000) and triples (6) and placed third with 101 total bases across 51 games before being promoted to Single-A Fresno on July 30. The 18-year-old also successfully swiped 22 bags.

Pitcher of the Year: Keyner Martinez, ACL Giants (SF)
It was a breakout campaign for the Giants No. 11 prospect, who signed out of Venezuela for just $10,000 in July 2023 and attracted little attention during his pro debut last summer. The 21-year-old posted a 1.90 ERA with 67 strikeouts (led Rookie ball) over 47 1/3 frames in 15 games this season. Martinez possesses a mid-90s fastball that can top out at 98 mph as well as a low-80s slider and an upper 80s changeup with fade.

Top MLB Prospect: Jhonny Level, ACL Giants (SF)
Level drew comparisons to fellow compact shortstops Rafael Furcal and Brayan Rocchio as an amateur in Venezuela before signing with the Giants for $997,500 in 2024. He didn't disappoint in his first taste of pro ball last season and kept that momentum going this season as he finished in the top 3 in home runs (9), total bases (108) and runs (50) in the circuit. San Francisco's No. 4 prospect was promoted to Single-A San Jose on July 31 after 58 games in the ACL.

Florida Complex League
Most Valuable Player: Jordan Sanchez, FCL Orioles (BAL)
Sanchez defected from Cuba and signed late in the 2023 international signing period for $450,000 with the Orioles. The lefty-swinging outfielder had a standout debut in the DSL in 2024 although it was cut short by an injury. Still, Baltimore's No. 27 prospect didn't appear hindered at all this year as he paced the FCL with 45 RBIs, a .950 OPS and 24 extra-base hits.
Pitcher of the Year: Javier Perez, FCL Astros (HOU)
The 21-year-old only lasted 13 games (five starts) in the FCL before being promoted to Single-A Fayetteville on Aug. 4 because of his dominance. Perez posted a 1.69 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, a .215 average against and fanned 48 over 42 2/3 innings over that stretch. The 6-foot-1 righty displayed advanced control with only eight walks and continued his strong run with a solid showing in the Carolina League to end the year.
Top MLB Prospect: Edward Florentino, FCL Pirates (PIT)
The Pirates signed Florentino for $395,00 out of the Dominican Republic, and the big left-handed swinger showed some advanced skills right out of the gate in the DSL. At 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, Pittsburgh's No. 5 prospect has some raw, easy pop. Florentino mashed six homers in 29 FCL games before being promoted to Single-A Bradenton, where he clubbed 10 more.

Dominican Summer League
Most Valuable Player: Cristian Arguelles, DSL Rockies (COL)
After a rookie campaign with mixed results, Arguelles appears to have put it all together this season. The 18-year-old out of Venezuela paced the entire Rookie-level in average (.422), slugging (.652), OPS (1.180), hits (79) and total bases (122). The Rockies outfield prospect also finished second in RBI (55), OBP (.528) and third with 27 extra-base hits.
Pitcher of the Year: Franco Zabaleta, DSL Athletics (ATH)
The 18-year-old from Colombia underperformed in his rookie campaign last year, but found something this year that has him on the road to stardom. The A's left-handed prospect put up eye-catching numbers as he led all qualifying Rookie-level hurlers with a 0.51 ERA, finished second at the level with a 0.85 WHIP and his .176 average against placed third. In 11 games, Zabaleta struck out 44 and walked 14 over 52 2/3 frames.
Top MLB Prospect: Elian Peña, DSL Mets Orange (NYM)
Peña signed for $5 million out of the Dominican Republic with the Mets this year. For reference, only Roki Sasaki ($6.5 million) signed for more under the 2025 international rules. Still just 17 years old, Peña wowed evaluators as an amateur with his elite plate discipline, ample bat speed and ability to spray the ball to all fields. That was all on display for the DSL Mets Orange squad as New York's No. 10 prospect slashed .292/.421/.528 with nine dingers, a triple, 13 doubles, 33 RBIs, 47 runs scored and 36 walks over 55 games. He also stole 21 bases in 25 attempts.
