NEW YORK -- The Mets have seen all they needed from Francisco Alvarez in Triple-A.

The team recalled Alvarez, their erstwhile starting catcher, prior to Monday's game against the Angels. To make room on the roster, catcher Hayden Senger was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

Alvarez hit 11 home runs in 19 games after the Mets sent him to Triple-A Syracuse to work on his overall game. That run included seven homers over his final six games.

Before his demotion, Alvarez was slashing just .236/.319/.333 with the Mets. The team sent him down to work on both his offense and defense.

Back in New York, Alvarez figures to reclaim significant playing time from Luis Torrens.
