After 4-HR game, Schwarber shows off golf skills to earn top pick in Phils' fantasy football draft

PHILADELPHIA -- Is there anything Kyle Schwarber can't do?

One day after becoming just the 21st player in MLB history to hit four home runs in a game, Schwarber swapped his baseball bat for a golf club -- and swapped pure power for some finesse.

In what has become an annual tradition, a group of Phillies players held a closest-to-the-pin challenge on the field at Citizens Bank Park prior to Friday night's game against the Braves to determine the draft order for their fantasy football league.

They placed a red flag in center field and teed off from home plate -- approximately 350 feet away.

Not only did Schwarber's ball land the closest, but his winning distance could not have been more fitting.

“Stuck it to four feet,” he said.

Four homers, four feet.

Schwarber’s pinpoint shot dethroned J.T. Realmuto, who won the contest last year, when Schwarber finished fourth.

“He’s a good golfer," Schwarber said of Realmuto at the time. "I’m sure if you put a basketball in the guy’s hand, he’d be good. He’s good at everything.”

Right now, it's Schwarber who's doing it all.

He not only made history with his four homers on Thursday night, but he also set the franchise single-game record with nine RBIs. As if that wasn't enough, he moved into second on the Phillies' single-season home run list with 49, trailing only Ryan Howard's 58-homer season in 2006.

Schwarber's 49 homers and MLB-leading 119 RBIs are both career highs -- with 28 games to play.

Meanwhile, he celebrated his big night by filming a pre-scheduled guest appearance for the hit sitcom "Abbott Elementary" on the field after the game. Less than 16 hours later, he was hitting an absolute dart on that same field to claim the No. 1 pick for his fantasy football draft.

Baseball, acting, golf ... what's next?

"I'm going to have him buy me a lottery ticket," said Phillies manager Rob Thomson. "I mean, he's just hot right now."

As for who Schwarber plans to take with that top overall pick, the Ohio native is leaning toward Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase.

"Go with the Ohio guy," he said. "I like being able to play with my heart for once."
