In parternship with Konami -- a digital entertainment company that launched an MLB-licensed mobile game earlier this year -- Major League Baseball is running back a second Konami League Leaders Pick 'Em to select the teams whose pitchers will record the most strikeouts next weekend.
Earlier this season, fans had a chance to participate in the first Konami Pick 'Em, where they attempted to select the top five home run hitting clubs over a three-game stretch.
Enter your picks HERE before 8 p.m ET on Aug. 7 and you could win the grand prize.
Need help making your picks? Here are some tips based on the season so far. (All statistics accurate through play on Wednesday, July 30).
Top strikeouts team
Astros (9.80 K/9 ratio -- best in Majors)
No pitching staff has a penchant for strikeouts quite like the Astros. Whether it’s the starters (9.34 K/9 ratio) or the relievers (league-best 10.51 K/9 ratio), Houston is punching out hitters like no other, up and down the pitching staff.
Setup man Bryan Abreu leads all relief pitchers with 76 strikeouts, while his teammate -- closer Josh Hader -- ranks second with 73 strikeouts. Ace Hunter Brown has 118 strikeouts and a 10.84 K/9 ratio, both among the top 15 in the Majors. And don’t sleep on left-hander Framber Valdez, who recently recorded his 1,000th career strikeout and is running a 9.5 K/9 ratio, his best since 2020.

Hottest team
Brewers (9.41 K/9 ratio since June 1 -- third-best ratio in Majors)
These days, any conversation about strikeouts has to start with “The Miz.” Jacob Misiorowski -- the 6-foot-7 rookie right-hander -- is an absolute marvel, equipped with triple-digit heat and a wicked slider that averages 94.3 mph. In just seven starts, Misiorowski has put himself on the map as one of the game’s premier arms thanks to a gaudy 12.7 K/9 ratio.
And there’s more to the Brewers’ dominant pitching staff than just Misiorowski. Manager Pat Murphy has a slew of fire-ballers out of the bullpen, including closer Trevor Megill (10.9 K/9 ratio) and set-up man Abner Uribe (10.7 K/9 ratio). The return of two-time All-Star Brandon Woodruff -- who has 29 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings -- has also helped shore up a rotation that looks like one of the best units in baseball.

Underrated team
Reds (8.43 K/9 ratio -- T-14th-best ratio in Majors)
When it comes to strikeouts, don’t overlook the Reds. Cincinnati asserted itself as legitimate contenders -- and, recently, Trade Deadline buyers -- on the backs of a stalwart pitching staff.
Even without the flamethrowing Hunter Greene, the Reds have a host of premium arms. Rookie right-hander Chase Burns recently recorded at least 10 strikeouts in three consecutive starts, becoming the first Reds player to do so since Raisel Iglesias in 2015. Southpaw Nick Lodolo just notched a season-high 11 strikeouts against the Dodgers. And crafty southpaw Andrew Abbott, a first-time All-Star, has shown he can carve his way through lineups with ease.
In fact, since July 1, the Reds have the highest K/9 ratio (9.51) in the Majors. There’s plenty of upside here to make them a sneaky choice for the Pick ‘Em contest.

Team in a friendly park
Mariners (8.38 K/9 ratio -- playing at T-Mobile Park)
No ballpark boosts strikeouts -- or decreases contact -- quite like T-Mobile Park. Over the last three years, it has the highest strikeout factor (116) of any ballpark in the Majors. This weekend’s schedule -- a three-game series at T-Mobile Park against the Rays -- certainly plays into their hands.
Of late, the Mariners’ pitching staff is beginning to resemble its typically-dominant self. Since July 1, Seattle pitchers have recorded 230 strikeouts -- the third most in the Majors. After early-season injuries, Logan Gilbert and George Kirby are healthy again, joining Bryan Woo atop a dominant pitching staff. And, as usual, they’re primed to take advantage of the environment at T-Mobile Park.

Team with a favorable matchup
Tigers (8.66 K/9 ratio) vs. Angels (25.8% strikeout rate)
Any team with Tarik Skubal in their rotation has an automatic advantage. Skubal, the defending AL Cy Young Award winner, is striking out more hitters than ever before with a career-best 11.5 K/9 ratio.
And the Tigers' weekend matchup is a juicy one. Angels hitters have a 25.8% strikeout rate, which is the second-worst rate in the Majors. In three starts against the Angels, Skubal has 24 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings, including an eight-strikeout performance earlier this season.
This certainly feels like the sort of strikeout-prone lineup that Tigers pitchers can exploit.
