Move over, Nostradamus -- you’ve got company. And mozzarella sticks, too.

In the fifth inning of Wednesday's Cubs-Brewers game, Milwaukee catcher William Contreras stepped to the plate with two men on and one out. The situation sparked a conversation between Cubs broadcasters Jim Deshaies and Jon “Boog” Sciambi.

“I mentioned somewhat flippantly yesterday that I feel like, at least once a game, William Contreras hits a ground ball to shortstop,” Deshaies said. “This would be an ideal time for that to happen.”

“JD how about this,” Sciambi countered. “If he hits a ground ball to short to start the 6-4-3 … will you buy mozzarella sticks for everybody at The Corner Taproom?”

Deshaies obliged, and Sciambi agreed to split the cost.

Sure enough, on the very next pitch, Contreras rapped a ground ball to shortstop. Dansby Swanson tossed the ball to second base, where Nico Hoerner then hurled it to first, beating Contreras for the 6-4-3 double play.

“Mozzarella sticks for everybody!” Deshaies yelled.

Why The Corner Taproom? Well, the restaurant is in Cascade, Iowa, which is the hometown of Cubs pitcher Colin Rea, who induced the ground ball. Thankfully, the Corner Taproom does indeed have “Cheese Stix” on its menu, which it shares with a connected restaurant, Happy Joe’s.

“Corner Taproom eat up!” Sciambi exclaimed.

Later in the game, Sciambi and Deshaies also enjoyed their own order of mozzarella sticks, delivered straight from the Wrigley Field concession stands.
