ATLANTA -- Yankees manager Aaron Boone insinuated MLB should look into his belief that Braves coach Eddie Pérez was gesturing that one of his team’s pitchers was going to throw at Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s head.

Pérez said that was not why he was pointing at his head as he and Chisholm yelled across the field at each other during the sixth inning of the Yankees’ 12-9 win over the Braves on Saturday night at Truist Park.

"I was just saying, ‘Be smart,’” Pérez said. “I like that guy. He’s one of my favorites. And he got mad about it. I don’t know why he got mad about it. So, I was like, ‘Take it easy’, and he started doing some [stuff].”

Chisholm singled during New York’s four-run sixth. When he reached second base, he used his right arm to seemingly signal location to Anthony Volpe, who drilled a sacrifice fly. After Chisholm reached third and there was a mound visit, he exchanged words with Pérez, who was in the Braves’ dugout.

Chisholm chose not to comment, but Boone made it clear he didn’t share Pérez's assessment.

"I know they were saying some things that will probably be looked at, and should be,” Boone said.

When asked if they were talking about hitting Chisholm in the head, Boone said, “I don't know exactly what was said, but they were talking about stuff like that, yeah.”

There were no more incidents over the remainder of the game.
