CLEVELAND -- The Guardians honored beloved radio broadcaster Tom Hamilton with an induction into their Distinguished Hall of Fame in Heritage Park at Progressive Field.

The induction was a surprise gesture to Hamilton, who took his place in Cooperstown on July 26 as the 2025 recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award. Cleveland made the announcement during a pregame ceremony on Saturday, when the club held Tom Hamilton Celebration Day at the ballpark prior to facing the Braves.

Hamilton was joined by his wife, Wendy, and his sons, Brad and Nick, on the field for the ceremony, and Cleveland revealed his induction via a video that played on the board above the left-field bleachers.

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt embraced Hamilton after the announcement.

Hamilton, 70, is only the 15th member of the ballclub's Distinguished Hall of Fame, which includes non-uniformed folks who have made significant contributions during the franchise’s storied history. He is in his 36th season as the team’s radio broadcaster, having served as the voice of Cleveland baseball since 1990.

Hamilton has called each of the team’s 111 postseason games during that stretch, including World Series in 1995, 1997 and 2016.
