Mets add three to Stearns' front-office staff
NEW YORK -- The Mets on Thursday formally announced a trio of high-ranking additions to their front office, all of whom president of baseball operations David Stearns recently hired to his cabinet: Eduardo Brizuela, Andy Green and Kris Gross.
One of those, Brizuela, was part of Stearns' team in Milwaukee, serving in a variety of roles, including special assistant to the general manager. In New York, Brizuela "will assist and advise in areas including player development, roster management and construction, player acquisition and the day-to-day activity of the Major League team," according to a team release.
Brizuela's official title is vice president and special assistant to the president of baseball operations.
Green, the Padres' manager from 2016-19 and briefly a Mets player in '09, is trading in a uniform for life in the front office. He will oversee all aspects of the Mets' player development as their vice president of that department.
Gross spent the past 11 seasons with the Astros, including the last four as the team’s director of amateur scouting. He becomes the vice president of amateur scouting in New York, after overseeing a team in Houston that produced more Major League players (58) via the Draft than any other organization during his tenure.
"The additions of Eduardo, Andy and Kris will bolster an already talented staff," Stearns said in a statement. "Each of these individuals bring valuable experience and perspective to Queens. We are excited to get to work on building an organization with the goal of a sustainable winning culture."
