Dodgers No. 13 prospect George runs wild with SIX stolen bases in High-A game

Stealing bases is an art -- and Kendall George was a virtuoso for the Dodgers' High-A affiliate on Sunday.

The Dodgers' No. 13 prospect went 2-for-3 with two walks and six stolen bases in Great Lakes' 9-1 win over Lake County at Dow Diamond.

George is one of just five Minor Leaguers since 2015 to swipe six bases in a game -- Marlins prospect Emaarion Boyd has done it twice, including once in April without recording a hit -- and no Major Leaguer has done it since 2009. It marked the second time in 2025 that George has reached safely four times.

After opening the game by beating out a single to third base, George stole his 14th base of the season. No player at the big league level has ever swiped seven bags in a single game, and the 2023 first-rounder was close to accomplishing that feat but was picked off while trying to take third.

In the third, George walked and stole second. And then in the fifth, he took another base on balls and swiped second and third. In the bottom of the sixth, the 20-year-old center fielder grounded a single to left and then stole second and third again.

Speed has long been George's signature tool. In September 2022, he swiped five bases and reached 10 times in 18 plate appearances at the 18U World Cup for Team USA. Considered the fastest player in the 2023 Draft, George earned an 80-grade run tool (on the 20-80 scale) from MLB Pipeline -- a mark shared by just five other ranked prospects, including Dodgers No. 7 prospect Kellon Lindsey.

George's game, however, is far from one-dimensional. Through 148 professional games, he's posted a .392 OBP and drawn 98 walks. He's also flashed elite burst on bunts, once reaching first in 3.4 seconds during a Prospect Development Pipeline League game in 2022.

The native of Humble, Texas headlines a stacked Great Lakes roster that features eight Dodgers Top 30 prospects. On Sunday, he had a ton of help. Josue De Paula (LAD No. 2/MLB No. 33) launched his seventh home run of the season to raise his OPS to .928. Mike Sirota (LAD No. 19) continued swinging his hot bat, adding his sixth homer in May -- and second since his promotion to High-A. On the mound, right-hander Patrick Copen (LAD No. 29) struck out 11 while allowing only a run on two hits over 6 2/3 innings.

With elite speed, advanced on-base skills, and developing discipline, George has been showing just why he's one of the most exciting leadoff hitters in the Minors.
